A Godly attitude toward criticism
I just recently completed our annual performance review process at work, and had a particularly challenging situation with one of my team members. While his review was okay, our relationship really isn’t - for some reason, he doesn’t trust me or my motives, and I’m not sure why. In a meeting a week or so before the review session, we got into it - he really laid into me about perceived slights, poor management, etc. I sat there, unable to comment, but feeling myself beginning to seethe. Thankfully, the meeting ended before I lost my cool, but it’s been haunting me every since.
This morning while I was reading through my daily blogs, I saw this entry from Mark Altrogge about God’s perspective on criticism. It’s right on - I’ve read through it several times, hoping that some of it will stick then next time my team member and I meet.
So, how do you respond to criticism, whether it be at work, at home, or with friends? Could you use the information that Mark Altrogge is providing?
