Know what’s important

After reading this story, if you don’t have tears in your eyes, you need to check and make sure your heart is still beating.

Stories like these should serve to remind us of a couple of things:

1. Really, how important in the whole scheme of things is that extra pound that won’t come off, that annoying person in front of us on the highway that just can’t seem to pull over into the right lane and let us by, or the fact that it seems like I just took the trash out and the bin’s full again?
2. When we encounter various trials, whether mere inconveniences or life-ending illnesses, what is the Lord trying to teach us, and what are we doing with the knowledge we’ve gained to help further His kingdom?
3. When was the last time I hugged my wife or my kids, and told them I’m glad they are around?
